Why you don't have to trust Usana...
The USANA Story- More Than A Vitamin
My USANA Story
The short version:
I found a health product that added value to my life and I can share it with others.
How I and most people got started:

Creating A Blaze
PART ONE- The spark
When I was a sophomore in high school, I took a health education class that awakened me to the intricate and fascinating workings of the human body.
As I applied the scientific and research-based principles of nutrition and exercise to my life, I noticed I felt better and could do more. Pure rocket science, right?
Although I didn’t know it at the time, this was the spark that started my health and wellness journey as I went on to become a Division One wrestler, a Master’s degree student in the Health Sciences, and the owner of a fitness business. That was 21 years ago.
I know not everyone gets as excited as I do about living life to the fullest, but it seems that most people do care a little. Most people are open to being a little healthier and doing a little more.
PART TWO- Add kindling
As my business grew, so did my brand as a specialty personal training company that works with the mentally and physically impaired.
What also grew was the expectation for greater value in our services. To meet this demand, I started a Stronger Living Initiative.
This was a defining moment because it meant that we no longer were going to simply go with what works, but rather challenge our methods and be open to what might work better.
PART THREE- Choosing logs
After a review of our company procedures, it became clear that we needed refinement. We needed a better and clearer platform from which to operate.
We identified 7 major health-influencing variables and focused on helping people rank their strongest and weakest areas. We then ask them which ones they are willing to improve upon to achieve the biggest results. The assessment allows us to measure progress with both a qualitative and quantitative review.
This Stronger Living Assessment is based on the current literature and is validated through an epistemological process that makes accurate information more useable. In other words, it needs to be documented, make sense, and have practical significance.
This system of checks and balances helps our clients to get the results they are looking for.
PART FOUR- The inferno
As if I wasn’t excited enough with this new platform, in October of 2009, I was asked to take a look at a company called USANA Health Sciences. Three months later I ordered and tried their flag ship product: a multivitamin called The CellSentials Pack.
I felt a significant bump in my already pretty good health within a few days.
This was the beginning of an inferno inside of me and has motivated me to take a personal training company that could only touch as many lives as there are hours in the day to a fitness consulting company that enables people to take control of their own health and help others do the same. It was the birth place of the present Functional Fitness- For Stronger Living. However, I did not know it at the time.
I continued to take The Essentials regularly for the next year as I researched the company, reviewed the product, did product comparisons, took inventory on my personal health/physical assessments and sampled the product to a few trusted sources for additional input. The results were very good.
For another 6 months I kept quiet. I found myself more and more amazed with the product. I also realized I had “analysis paralysis.” I was sitting on some amazing information that I knew should be shared with others.
It was at this time that one of my most value-driven (quality over price) clients shared with me that she and her family supplemented their diets with products from a company called USANA, and that I should take a look. I told her that I’ve heard about it. She said from what she can dig up, (and she has the capacity and resources to dig deep), they are the best by far.
That same week I was skimming through an Outside magazine and saw that they had ranked USANA as one of the best companies to work with.
Later and totally random, another client who is a retired CPA showed me an article from a Forbes magazine that gave an honorable mention to USANA Health Sciences for being in business for over 20 years, having another record breaking quarter of growth on the NYSE, and closing in on $1 billion dollars in annual sales, thanks to the founder who is actually a scientist who won the Albert Einstein Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Life Sciences.
Still, I remained on the fence about whether to add USANA as a product partner to my company and our new operating system of stronger living. I wanted so much to believe that I could get the same nutritional advantage that USANA offers in their products through my diet alone as that had seemed to serve me quite well over the years.
The Tipping Point
While I was driving home one day, I had the following conversation with myself:
Optimist Tanner: “Your graduate professors said that you are now equipped with the knowledge and research skills to go and inspire the world to better health. They said, and I quote, ‘encourage movement, better eating, and the use of a multivitamin.’”
Analytical Tanner: “Yeah but, sell vitamins? You’re not a salesman.”
Optimist Tanner: “You’ve tried to dig up substantial dirt on the founder, the company, and the product and you can’t find any. It all seems to fit perfectly with your mission of helping better lives through healthier behavior options.”
Analytical Tanner: “Yeah, but this is crazy. It is too good of an opportunity and too good of a product. The company seems to fit your message and platform too perfectly and that which sounds too good to be true probably is.”
Optimist Tanner: “Yes, it seems too good, but you’ve done your homework, you’ve experienced the benefits of the product personally, and you’ve had trusted sources verify the same. Are you going to lie to yourself and your clients and ignore the fact that diet alone cannot provide optimal benefits and sufficient support?”
Analytical Tanner: “No, I can’t in good conscious do that. You’re right Tanner, I have to do this. Let’s do it. Let’s change some lives.”
PART FIVE- The blaze
We can experience a higher level of health if we are open to it. Our genetics, available foods and skills in the kitchen do not have to be limiting factors to our health. USANA has created nutritionals we can trust to be safe and effective at delivering optimal nutrition to our cells. USANA’s vision to live life to its fullest is not a pipe dream. It’s my dream and it can be yours too. Join me in touching one life at a time starting with your own.

My USANA Story
The short version:
I found a health product that added value to my life and I can share it with others.
How I and most people got started:
- In 2009 a friend gave me a video to watch.
- In 2010 I finally got around to watching it.
- Intrigued by the health claims, I tried the product but was already pretty healthy so I didn't expect to feel any different. I was wrong.
- Curious about the potential income claims, I watched the compensation video. Getting paid what your worth? What a concept.
- I now share this information with others who express an interest in and are indeed open to being healthier and wealthier.
